Restoration work produces an enormous financial record under the worst possible conditions. Operion is being extended to capture it as it happens, on the same spine that already runs fire and field operations.
This vertical is in development and is not yet available in production. Fire & Emergency Services and Federal & Field Operations are live today. We are describing intended scope here, not shipped capability — if you need it in production now, we will say so rather than sell you a timeline.
Intended scope
What the utilities build is being designed to cover.
- Outage and restoration events — the operational timeline of a restoration held the same way an incident is.
- Crew and mutual-aid hours — internal and mutual-aid crews attributed to the event as the hours are worked.
- Storm cost capture — labour, equipment and contract cost attributed against the event and the funding source during the response.
- Equipment and materials — consumption and custody tracked against restoration work rather than reconciled from a warehouse count afterward.
- Mutual-aid reconciliation — the record that supports billing and recovery between participating utilities.
Why the same core
Utilities are not a different product. They are the same problem with different nouns.
Shared spine
A restoration event and a fire incident have the same shape: an operational timeline, resources committed against it, hours and equipment consumed, cost that has to be attributed to a funding source, and a record that will be examined long after everyone has gone home.
That is why utilities is an extension of the operational core rather than a separate product — and why the parts that are hardest to build, capture and attribution and offline reconciliation, are already running in production elsewhere.
